LA TIMES MUSIC BLOG Featured the Independent Label Market Co-Sponsered by IAMSOUND RECORDS on Pop & Hiss

With a burgeoning number of record stores and musicians in and around its nebulous borders, Silver Lake could plausibly claim to be the used-vinyl capital of the Lower 48 (as well as the porkpie hat capital of the world -- but that's for another blogpost).

So the 33 1/3 rpm gods must've ordained that the L.A. bourgeois-bohemian enclave would be the perfect spot to host the Independent Label Market's annual gathering of indie record labels on Nov. 3. The convocation will take place at Micheltorena Elementary School, situated at the intersection of Micheltorena and Sunset Boulevard. (It's the school with the giant mural and the community garden out front, next to the playground.)

It'll be ILM's first such event to be held on the West Coast.

Among the exhibitor-vendors, who according to the press release will be selling their "fresh vinyl produce directly to the public" at market stalls, will be Ninja Tune, Stones Throw, 100% Silk, IAMSOUND (the event's co-sponsoring partner), Innovative Leisure, Burger Records and Mad Decent.

"Exclusive releases" and surprise artist appearances also are promised. And did we mention that you'll be mere steps from a great shop to buy a porkpie hat?
